Worship

Worship is to be simple, uncluttered and led by those called of Christ. Our desire is to worship God in the way He has instructed in the Bible. Our worship will have:

  • The reading and preaching of God’s Word as the primary feature of the service.
  • Prayer as an essential element of worship.
  • Congregational singing of the Psalms, hymns and Christian songs.
  • The celebration of the two sacraments: covenant Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

The singing of the psalms may seem new, but it is part of the rich heritage of the Christian Church. They are very important to our praise and prayer life [Psalm 96, Ephesians 5:19, James 5:13].

Faith

Our church is “Presbyterian”, meaning we have elders who lead, watch over and care for the congregation. We are “Reformed”, meaning we hold to a biblical view of the Bible, salvation, worship, the church, and especially God. We confess the historic Christian faith expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and the Apostles’ & Nicene Creeds. These summarize what the Bible teaches about:

  • The inspiration and authority of God’s Word.
  • The glory of the One Eternal God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • The sinfulness of mankind.
  • The saving work of Jesus Christ.
  • The great need of God’s grace and mercy.
  • True faith and repentance for salvation.
  • The place of the Ten Commandments as the rule of our duty and love to God and each other.
  • Judgement and eternal life.

Doctrine is important for spiritual growth and that our Lord encourages us to uphold that which is “proper for sound doctrine” [Titus 2:1].
