“Deliver us from evil” is a plea to Christ to rescue us from both the evil of Satan that meets us in life and the evil of our own corruption and failure that rises from our own heart. Jesus did not keep Peter from Satan’s sifting, but rescued Peter, ensuring his faith did not completely fail. Luke 22:31-32
